I have a passion for Mind Management, Personal Development and Growth. I am a Doctor with training in psychiatry and a Medical Degree from the University of Otago (1986) in New Zealand. I also have a Bachelor of Science from Canterbury University also in New Zealand. I double majored in Zoology (Comparative Physiology) and Organic Chemistry. Where Do I Live? I live in a place called the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It is known for its sandy beaches, surf, sunshine and relaxed holiday lifestyle. What Gets Me Going? I enjoy all sorts of things from the freedom to sit and think through things to being physically active. I enjoy a sense of adventure either in my external or internal environments. I like traveling and seeing the wonders that the world has to offer. My ability to think about other people and help them change their lives has been my most treasured activity. It is reflected in my personal mission. My Mission My personal mission is to have fun in life and help as many people along the way as I can. I set this mission when I was young, I still live by it though it has been adapted somewhat as my life has developed. The NevinTaylor.com Mission The nevintaylor.com mission is to help as many people as possible by providing them with skills to improve their lives, provide opportunities for doing so and have fun doing it. How did I come to Be doing this. It all began when some friends of mine asked if I what I had spent my career learning could be applied to their lives. I was somewhat taken aback to say the least. I have worked in the field of psychiatry for many years. I have worked with some of the most marginalized and isolated people in our community. I knew a lot about what could go wrong for people. Had all my friends suddenly gone insane since they were asking for my help? Fortunately for me they had not, but they were interested if I could teach them any techniques to enhance their lives. Could the techniques I had spent my career learning, be applied to people whose lives were not pathological in any significant way? I thought that with modification I could teach them some techniques. What surprised me the most was, what I felt were common skills for living, some of them had never even heard of, let alone thought about. That was an eye opener for me. So I began holding discussions with my friends about these techniques and observing how they used them and the changes they made. The purpose of nevintaylor.com is to help you develop skills and an approach to your life that will become a part of your daily being and be applicable to everything that you do. The goal is to achieve a happier and more successful life. My service is to teach you about these techniques, how to install and use them. Walking To Running There is already a vast literature of knowledge available on change and techniques for change. Wisdom has been gathered for thousands of years and during the last 100 years, psychological sciences and medicine has learned much that is new and confirmed many of the beliefs gathered in our collections of wisdom. Ideally, we should all have a readily available system for solving many kinds of problems. We should also have methods for advancing ourselves to the next level. Such a system would best be based on an understanding of our own behavior and relationships with those close to us and the more broader aspect of the world. In my practice I have taught many of these techniques to help people with their most troubling symptoms. Working with this group is like taking a person with a broken leg and getting them to walk again. Fo you this site, with its modifications of many techniques, will help you move from walking to running, to achieving the levels of happiness and success you desire. What this site will do for You • We will review a wide range of subjects in the areas of self-awareness, self improvement, Happiness and success. • We will describe many methods and techniques for improving your life and systems for implementing and maintaining it. • I realize that no one technique will work for every body and no one program can tell you all you need to know. We will summarize the best explanations, and latest research on techniques for self improvement and success. • This will give you, where applicable and available a fund of knowledge about behavior to add to your own experiences and skills. You will accumulate a larger fund of knowledge and a technique tool-box that will help you understand yourself and gain and maintain control of your mind thus allowing you to reach higher levels of success. We present the information in alphabetical order. In some places it is presented as modules that you can use individually. We encourage you to skip around to find what you need at present. We make no amazing, fantastic, or ingenious claims. We try to be sensible and accessible. We don't claim to be fast, simple and easy, though many techniques are. The applications of these techniques to ourselves and others isn't always simple but it isn't impossibly complicated either. Customisation As a professional working in the field of changing peoples lives through therapy, self help and personal development, I've seen many different programs that are available. Many of these programs are good. All you have to do is use the techniques and you can have, less stress right through to the unlimited power to create anything you consciously desire. Each program assumes that one technique suits all or that the techniques fit all situations. They may not fit your situation or are not easily put into action. We encourage you to get better results by customizing the information presented to fit your particular circumstances. If an idea or technique doesn't feel right or isn't working - modify it or discard it. Find elements that work together and work well for you.
